CLAMV Computational lab for analysis, modeling, and visualization www.clamv.jacobs-university.de

CLAMV is the center for scientific computing at Jacobs University. It serves as support initiative for computationally oriented disciplines and provides the platform for exchange and cooperation in applied computing. CLAMV services cover the following topics: Software for courses and projects in computationally oriented disciplines Computer Teaching Labs High Performance Computing (HPC) Data Storage Visualization WWW-Presentations and Data Bases Research Group Support.

OceanLab Laboratory for experimental oceanography oceanlab.user.jacobs-university.de

The OceanLab houses an interdisciplinary research group. They focus primarily on the ocean carbon cycle and fluxes of particulate matter within the lowermost water column. They investigate the effect of hydrostatic pressure on organic matter fluxes, as well as aggregation in marine environments. For the work in these different fields of interest they often develop new instrument systems. At the forefront is their internet operated vehicle, currently deployed off Vancouver Island at a depth of 900 m. They also dedicate ourselves to more applied science. OceanLab coordinates studies on risk assessment and monitoring offshore installations as well as CO2 mitigation programs with microalgae.

e.on Lab and Lab II  Serve all the needs for research in the natural sciences

The Lab 2 building hosts research labs for Life Sciences, Chemical and Biochemical Sciences, and for Physics, as well as teaching labs for Physical Chemistry and Biochemical Engineering. This building together with the e-on lab serves all the needs for research and teaching in the Natural Sciences. The facilities are generously sized and equipped according to modern standards with NMR spectrometer, confocal laser scanning microscope, atomic force microscopy & force spectroscopy, laser spectroscopy, x-ray diffractometry, electron spectroscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, robots etc. etc. In addition, some dedicated research tools have been acquired, such as a femtosecond laser or two clean rooms for work on organic semiconductors and nanomolecular biophysics.
